Top 25 Albums of 2025
Top 25 albums of 2025
🇬🇧Inspired by a dear friend of mine, I took on the mission of listing my top 25 albums of the year. If it wasn’t hard enough to pick the 25 best of the best, I also had to rank them, which was nearly impossible, but I did it anyway. Here’s my Top 25. Enjoy!
25. Japanese Breakfast - For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women)
🇬🇧 I’m not a melancholy brunette nor a sad woman, so I guess I’m not the target audience, but that’s the beauty of art. It’s not about technicality, it’s about feeling, and this is a beautiful record anyway.
Fav tracks racks: Mega Circuit, Picture Window, Orlando in Love
24. Winter - Adult Romantix
🇬🇧There’s a very specific feeling that videos of young couples, recorded with retro VHS effects and low saturation, try to evoke and that’s exactly the dreamlike mood Adult Romantix lives in.
🇬🇧I feel like I’ve mellowed over the years, from a punk/grunge teenager to an indie-rock young adult, and now flirting with dreampop and shoegaze; however, records like this remind me that fast and raw music can still make my day.
🇬🇧A futuristic pop album that could be featured on Serial Experiments Lain soundtrack. Besides the glitches and other effects, the song structures are clear, preventing the record from becoming a niche album.
🇬🇧It didn’t click with me at first, but it grew on me until it made this list. I feel like Wolf Alice put in a genuine effort to create an epic album, and they actually achieve that! I’ve got a feeling that I’m living through glorious times listening to this record.
🇬🇧Every track is an urgency. The album is not singing, it’s shouting at the top of their lungs. Hardcore and post-punk, this is a confessional record made by people who want to be heard in the present times.

🇬🇧It reminds me of those sci-fi space films where the astronaut is trapped and isolated like Moon, 2001 or Ad Astra. Years and years drifting through space, suspended in time, with no more connection to mankind. This is an introspective record, cold and lunar, where solitude isn’t dramatic but absolute. It feels like floating endlessly, observing existence from a distance, detached from humanity and grounded life itself.
7. Reverse Pathogen - Accidentally Fetishized
🇬🇧Walking a fine line between being a parody band and taking themselves seriously through irony, Accidentally Fetishized delivers catchy melodies paired with sharp, acidic lyrics. The extended version of the album also features some unexpected covers, including Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.”
6. Black Honey - Soak
🇬🇧From this point on, the list gets really complicated to rank, as I love all these albums. They all have what I’ve been digging in music lately: guitar-driven melodies, catchy choruses, and a flirtation with different alt-rock derivatives. Soak feels like the most insinuating record on the list, with provocative vocals and a dark pop atmosphere.
Fav tracks: Insulin, Soak, Slow Dance
5. Momma - Welcome To My Blue Sky
🇬🇧With ’90s-inspired guitars but without turning into a grunge band cosplay, Welcome to My Blue Sky is the lightest album at the top of this list, perfect for sunny days.
Fav tracks: I Want You (Fever), Stay All Summer, Bottle Blonde
4. Swim School - Swim School
🇬🇧On the other hand, this is the album that carries the most sense of desperation at the top of the list. Swim School is the debut album from the band of the same name, with vocals flirting with the ethereal without losing intensity when necessary and an impressive interplay between guitars and drums across the tracks. It’s remarkable how well they nailed it for a debut!
Fav tracks: Heaven, On & On, Am I Good Enough Now?
🇬🇧The only veterans to reach the top section of this list, Ash has been one of my favorite bands since my teenage years. With nearly three decades and nine studio albums behind them, there’s no sign of fatigue on Ad Astra. Fully embracing the outer space theme that has been with them from the start, they bring in Graham Coxon on a few tracks, and the Blur guitarist delivers the best guitar solo of the year on the title track!
Fav tracks: Hallion, Deadly Love, Ad Astra
2. NewDad - Altar
🇬🇧Until the very final moments of this list closure, this album was my top 1 and for good reason. It combines everything I found interesting this year, flirting with shoegaze, dreampop, and indie rock. The album carries a dark undertone that lingers over the tracks but never fully takes over, like a cloudy day that never rains. This mix reaches its peak in “Everything I Wanted”, which I consider the best song of the year.
Fav tracks: Pretty, Entertainer, Everything I Wanted
1. Coach Party - Caramel
🇬🇧There’s a very specific feeling you only get when you’re young and naive: the sense that, even if you have nothing, the world is an endless field of possibilities. As we grow older and mature, these windows of possibility start to close (if they were even truly open in the first place). Yet, during the nearly 33 minutes of this album, especially while listening to “Georgina”, that world of possibilities opened up again.
Fav tracks: Georgina, I really like you, Fake it
